2005 EARTH University Internship

My Experience

EARTH University is a four-year sustainable agricultural university for Latin American students. It specializes in solid waste disposal as well as socially and environmentally responsible business and agricultural practices. As a Gilman Fellow, I took two classes: Waste Management, and Irrigation & drainage which were based mostly on field experience and taught solely in Spanish. I spent 12 hours a week in lecture/lab which helped me understand the complex world of waste disposal and management. The entire internship/class experience was the basis for an educational video that I created addressing the
ways that EARTH University managed and extended the life of their waste disposal system. In my spare time, I also tutored students in math to help them prepare for University entrance exams

Going abroad proved foundational in me wanting to pursuing research and a graduate degree. I recommend to you, to go ask questions, seek help, go the distance and EXPLORE!
